Hiya guys!
My name is Ginette Ersgaard, and I’m a 23 year-old girl from Denmark. Well actually, just my dad is from Denmark. My mom was born and raised in the Democratic Republic of Congo (formally Zaire), in the middle of Africa.
My dad married my mom while he was working for a European firm in Congo. They lived in Congo for a while, where my brother and I were born.
I lived in Congo until I was about 4 years old, and then my dad had to move back to Denmark because of work. Naturally, the whole family moved with him, and I’ve been happily living in Denmark ever since.
Unfortunately, both my mom and dad passed away when I was just 11 years old in a terrible car accident. Of course this was a horrible and life-changing event that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
My brother and I were fortunate enough to be taken in by my parent’s best friends. They raised us like we were their own children, and were given a wonderful youth and a great change in life.
By the time I reached 17 and finished high school, I moved away from home to go to university in Copenhagen. I studied to become a dentist assistant.
After my 18th birthday I bought my own apartment in the middle of the city. I got money from my parents trust and invested this in a great little apartment that I’ve been living in since. This was a very smart move for me, as my little home has since doubled in value.
I haven’t traveled as much yet as the other people on this Website, but I will get my share soon. I’ve been living in Copenhagen for about 6 years now, and I’m ready for a new challenge!
One possibility of traveling comes with being a spokesperson for Attitude. I’ve never really traveled the USA before, and am very much looking forward to exploring the country, the people and it’s many different cultures.
Another opportunity I’m about to take is a trip to Kenya to work in an orphanage for a couple of months. I would love to give orphans the same changes and opportunities I kindly have been given. I also haven’t been back to Africa since my 10th birthday when we went on a holiday with my parents, and can’t wait to go back and meet up with my roots.
As you can see I’ll be catching up on my traveling soon, and hope to be having heaps of fun in the process!
In the mean time, I’ll keep you up to date on my findings via e-mail; so do be sure to check back sometime soon.
As for now… Mbote na yo, Bolingo! That’s Lingala* for: “Good day, my Friend!”
Love, Ginette.
